So its been really hot around here lately. When running the A/C it of course drops a little bit but the last tank it really dropped I did fill it up fuller than usual. Is this heat making it drop? I have noticed a rough idle when I first start it until it warms up just trying to figure out if I have something else going on.

Heat causing MPG's to dive?

I would avoid running any fuel with E10 when it gets this hot out. Otherwise, when the temp goes up the air density goes down and less fuel is required. Usually the MPG on an EFI vehicle will increase as a result.Brian

yah I've noticed easily 3-5 mpg more out of each tank of gas the last month since its been hitting 95++F.. I got my best tank yet at 328 mi (I don't normally drop below 1/4 tank but I was low on dough that week) I don't run a/c unless my kids are in the car(no need for them to suffer) it robs way too much power from my poor lil 60 horse engine
Ofc with my job I'm used to being exposed to all the elements and being rode hard and put away wet on too many occasions.2008 Kia Rio- new beater

warm air will increase mpg to a point. Then the density drops so much that power output is so low that maintaining speed requires much greater throttle angle, which equalls greater engine load, which LOWERS fuel econmy.Jim DeAngelis
