  • Festiva with a 460 in it....

Just had a customer tell me today that earlier this year they were at the race track that is only 1 mile away from house and there was a Festiva there with 460 motor rear mounted. Total tube chassis....

Well I asked him numerous times if he was positive it was a Festy and he said he was sure because he knew I was in to them and thought it looked like one.....so he asked about it and it was.

I will try and do my best to find info on this car if it exists.... or report back if it was a mistaken identity.

I REALLY hope you can track this thing down! If you do take plenty of pics! 2 of my favorite things put together, Festies and 385 big block Fords

I'm a hoarder of 429's and 460's so try to get detailed pics so it can be replicated I'm curious how they did the driveline. Even if they used a 4spd and narrowed 9 inch that would still place the engine just over your shoulder LOL.

First thing that popped in my head when I saw the thread title was... Rich Norman?

Someone did a rear engine once a long time ago with a 350, but it was FWD using a flipped and narrowed (I think) 4x4 jeep front axle.

Or, like a shogun, with the engine turned sideways and a trans from an '70s Eldorado... should hold up to a 460 I'd think, since it was built for a 500

^^ I remember seeing a pic somehwere of a white car with huge slicks under it that only had about 12-18" between the inner sidewalls. Was that it?

Even with a FWD transmission that would still be a tight fit. The engine alone is 32" long from water pump to flywheel

Oh I know... it would have to look like a SHOgun with a widebody kit on top of the already widened shogun body!

Found the pics of the one I was talking about. It's a 351W car though and not a 460. Looks like New York plates.

^^ That's the only pics I could find.

I don't think you'll get much better than the shot in pic 3. The engine is almost completely tucked under the cowl and firewall like in a van.

He may want to seriously think about a set of wheelie bars for that ride. I'll bet it would stand up on the rear bumper quickly. I would also bet it's a real hand full trying to keep it between the walls.

Looks like an even bigger death trap then the festy already is..
Also would be an epic car to see hauling A55 on the drag strip.

When I bought Rich's white car he told me all about thie white one in these pics. He also built an ls1 car and a 460 car.

He said the white one went 9.9 in the 1/4 and the track officals wouldn't let him go that fast for safety reasons.

If I would have had a trailer I would have bought his frame jig. He had a heck of a festy building shop.

Thats where i got a lot of my spare parts
