Last Sunday I hit a puddle and got water in the engine. I pulled the plugs and wet vac ed the cylinders and intake but she old turned a little and stopped. I can't get her to go either way now. It was a puddle in my work lot. I finally towed home and got a ratchet with breaker bar but no luck.

My cousin has a shop and thru a contact is getting me a escort gt engine with under 100k supposedly.
I have an auto trans and AC in mine.

From what I read I should not need to cut the oil pan for axle clearance, right?

I am hoping the engine is an auto , but if not I need an auto TB and do I get a ECU from any parts store for and auto ecu?

What battery is recommeded to keep it o the drivers side? Or is it easier to get the relocation kit.

I hope that the harness was cut out with the engine or a few inches of it.

I also have to smash the frame rail to get the AC pully to clear.

If the space the front MM do I have intake manifold clearance ?

Its my daily driver so I am time limited.

    thanks

Sounds like you did your homework and pretty much answered all your questions. I have a thin Honda civic battery in my BP.

For the second question, I have no idea what this question means. I think you need to smash in the area on the firewall for some clearance or use spacers on the front cross member.

I've done two B6 swaps; one auto and one manual. I'll just go over what I'm sure about and let others complete the picture, since BPs are not my area. I'm also assuming you have an FI Festiva of 1990 or later. If you have a carbed one, you need more help than I can give. If you have an auto 1989, you have FI, but your FI system is the first year version and is different from later FI models in various respects, and again, I can't help you too much.

      For 1990 and later Festivas:

You'll need a manual TPS with three pins instead of the BP auto's four.

**All FI Festivas have 3 pin TPSs, no matter the transaxle type! This is because there is no computer control over the old 3 speed Festiva/Aspire automatic.**

Thus, you need manual TPS and manual ECU from an Escort GT or Protege LX up through 1994 model year. (I don't know about the 1995+ years, as they may be OBD-II and require extra/different work.)

Also, if your BP has an aluminum oil pan, I think you'll need to clearance it for your right side CV axle. (I think you can use your transaxle side cover as a template to see how much to grind off.)

That's about all I can help you with. Good luck.

Yes, Mine is a 91 FI model and the EGT engine is a 91-93 I believe.

The frame smashing was for the Lower pulley clearance for the AC.
Also, I recall some said you can gain Firewall clearance by spacing the front MM forward.

So I guess I hope its a Manual trans escort. Can th ECu be purchase from a local auto store is a bone yard better?

        thanks

If you use the Escort trans, you don't need to cut/ dent the firewall. You only need to do that with the stock trans. To make the swap easier, however, I'd recommend using the stock auto trans you already have. Less mods, and it can take the abuse like crazy.

Did you try cranking the motor with the plugs out?

Yes you can use these since the trans has no electronics. You will only need to add the 1 wire for the dizzy and the IAC plug is different. Other than that it should be plug and play.

You WILL HAVE TO shave your oil pan if you are using the festiva trans.

yes, I tried cranking it with no plugs via the starter and by hand / ratchet, it only went a bit and locked

thanks on the ECU info. My engine has arrived?

Has anyone bought a ECU at a aftermarket auto tore or go to the JY?

                  thx

                      On the ECU
The JY is asking for my old Computers Part number. I don't have one. Is it safe to say all 91-95 Escort GT should have the same computer or that they should work?

                      thanks
