  • Anybody familiar with Mazda F2 engine?

There is a 89 Mazda B2200 pickup for sale locally that I stopped to look at the other night. F series engine (F2) 2.2 liter interferance engine. Has been sitting for 3 months and cranks but doesn't start. 2bbl Mikuni carb that probably is gummed up, or something fuel related. As this is another Mazda series engine, It looks very straight forward and similar to our beloved b series engines.
Just curious if anybody else has messed with this engine or know any other tips on it.

Have you dropped a bit of fuel into the carb? If it's like the Festiva, a 20oz. pop bottle of fuel in the vacuum line would help you...

didn't have any fuel with me, or starting fluid so it would at least light off briefly...

there is a squirrel nest of vacuum lines and being not as familiar with carbs as i am with efi, wouldn't know which line to pull to put in a bottle of fuel.

My apologies. I'm mistaking my recent experience with an EFI system. Spray bottle from Dollar General filled with gas (temporarily, of course) and squirt it into the carb while you crank it. Hopefully you'll get SOME kind of reaction.
