  • Any suggestions?

Im trying to find out what to paint what on the motor (B6D) and in the motor compartment and suggestions?
I cant figure out if I should paint the block orange and the head silver and the valve cover black with stripes to match, the fire wall and surrounding areas will be flat black (the body color) or orange to match the stripes.

black block, leave the head be, then maybe a valve cover to match your stripes and black mazda lettering.

Ok so the weather is good enough to be outside now so I am finally able to work on my motor. I have been cleaning up the parts for the last week but forgot to take pics before, I do have pics of them while they were still on the motor during the tear down. Anyway here is the valve cover and I will show more pics when I get them, one of the kids got the camera so who knows where it is.

Thank you. Everyone keeps asking why paint the motor? I simply tell them it needs to match the car

                      That VC looks great!

Just don't paint the transmission. Any help it can get to keep cool will extend the life of the fluid in it and therefore the life of your transmission. Paint (or even oil) will be a tiny bit of insulation between the metal and surrounding air.

I won't paint the transmission but i will steam clean it with the power washer at work, it gets to 300 degrees and makes things look great.

I love to pass cars on the highway they look at me funny and some try to catch up, ( with a stock motor they always do) they always have a funny look when I can run with them.
