  • A natural gas project of a different sort

In WWII, particularly in the Nordic countries, petrol was in desperate supply. The problem was partly solved by use of Gengas generators - woodburning units that generated carbon monoxide in sufficent amounts to run the engine. Effective HP was reduced, but they got by. Interest in the technology has never completely died - the Finns seem to particularly enjoy building them. Here's news coverage of one recently completed in Sweden by a submarine technician. It has nice shots of the countryside and some historical footage to boot. It's in Swedish, but partly subtitled, except that they mis-translate CO as CO2:

Interesting, but tree huggers wouldn't like that at all. With less trees they might have to shower and hug each other.

However on your own property i can see that being a great option for a generator or a pump.

Use of compressed wood pellets and other wood byproducts from already existing production methods would be used and could be very "green."

Still looks very complicated to me, but I'm not used to this technology! I was unaware that CO has enough energy in it to run things like cars.

      Neat!

If your serious, Here's some figures and points of interest

I don't know what that video says, but Gengas is also know as:
Woodgas, syngas, wood distillation. If you google the subject, you'll find there's alot people doing this for whatever. keep in mind, that it's not just wood, it can be almost anything that burns, dry leaves, dry grass, ect...
There's even a small island that powers the entire island on coconut husk/shells.

Alot of outside wood furnaces are starting to use this technology as well, it makes them much more efficient and cleaner burning. But using it in an car requires volume and filtration.

Ah yes, didn't think of that. Since milk dairies are now illegal in southern california because cows fart so much, companies have been taking over the land and making several green recycling plats in Chino. They sell fertilizer and sod but wouldn't surprise me if they were making that stuff at their facilities as well. To suck in CO and make co2 and water would be very clean.
