Was bored as hell at work today so i started browsing znet to see how much a 97 miata bp would cost. Needless to say im kinda shocked. 2,397.95 for a low milage 97 bp engine. Honestly i think that is kind of a good deal but what I want to know is what are the benefits from buying that new of a BP. Is there any at all?

none... unless you go even newer like 99+, then the output goes up and the internals change.

Wow unless you have been fixing everyones cars in your church congregation and have a insane amount of credit with the rewards card, i consider that price about twice as high as i would consider. JDM engines with ecu a transmission and clutch come over for that price.

Well my brother paid 2500+ for his imported bpt from japan so a good "new" or low mileage BP for that price doesnt seem to bad to me. I just though i read somewhere the 97 miatas had a better flowing head. guess thats the 99 plus?

99 head is the better head, and i think 95 cams are better but they might just mean for the pre 99 head. The solid lifters are good for higher rpm revving however.
