  • GEICO called today...

    I GOT TWINSTIVA'S DEDUCTIBLE BACK!!

They're sending me the $250 in the mail. They must have finally "convinced" the uninsured motorist who hit me last winter to pony up the cash to get his license back.

Or, more likely, HER license back. The Toyota was registered to his girlfriend or sister. Whatever.

Okay, so I actually made out nicely in the "financial" sense: $1640 for the car, plus now the deductable back. I'm only out the $125 "scrap" price I paid to keep Twin as a salvage titled car to fix back up.

I have to say my experience with GEICO has been pretty good. I'm sure we've all heard horror stories about insurance hassles. Not this time. No, the only hassle came from the accident itself and the loss of my nearly pristine, rust free low miles '92L.

She'll be back though. Maybe not till spring.

    Karl

Glad to hear as well. I've had Geico for about 2 years now. Haven't had to file a claim with them, but I've had to deal with someone elses insurance several times, and it was NEVER pleasant.

BTW- Has Geico raised your premiums since the claim?

I myself have always had good relations with Geico. So far they are the best insurance company I have ever had.

I don't think my premiums were raised. I should probably check.

Nice, I had State Farm right out of high school with a S10 Blazer in great running shape, and the body was almost rust free. I only had it for 10 days, following 3 cars home one day a woman ran a stop sign and plowed into me doing 55 her tboning me @35. Luckily I opted for uninsured motorists, they only gave me 800 for the blazer, but 1200 for pain and suffering (i busted my knee & head pretty bad.) It worked out I suppose, but the blazer was worth twice that easy. I haven't had to file any accident claims since then, luckily.

I dread the day that someone at fault hits one of my cars. But you can't plan your life around 'maybes'.
In snarled city traffic during a snowstorm 3 years ago I noticed a guy coming up behind me going way too fast. Lucky that Festys are nimble, curb hoppers and that I had new snow tires. The sliding, locked-brakes, car wound up rear-ending the guy in front of me and I beat it on out of there by travelling along the sidewalk. Was a courier at the time and paid 'piecework' and couldn't afford to sit around for hours awaiting cops etc. Did make me realize that crashes are inevitable unless you only attend rural fair weather car shows on Sundays.
