Hey all. It's been a while! Stayed off the board for a while and missed a lot lol. Well since my festiva died on me right after the st Louis meet in 09, I kinda gave up on it working on other projects. But I saw a really nice festiva the other day and I got to thinkin about it again. I got a little more money now and some automotive experience, and she needs a motor anyway, so i think I'm gonna try a swap. Since its a carbed 89, I'm gonna have to have all the wiring and stuff from my donor I reckon. I'm thinkin a bp from an escort gt. Planning to take the trans and all from the egt and get some xr2 axles. I know the egt trans is hydraulic. Would it be better to get the trans from a xr2 or would it make any difference? Also the bp swap guide (wow there's a guide now! That wasn't here last time I was lol) says you need to clearance the firewall for the intake, but I've seen some where the intake cleared the firewall on its own. Can you tilt the engine forward enough to make it clear without hitting or what? I've seen some of the threads about it, but some of the pictures can be a little confusing without ever having actually done a swap lol. Thanks in advance for yalls input! Hoping I can get started on it soon.
89 L, hopefully returning from the dead soon with a little more power...

Welcome back. I've been hit and miss myself on here, likewise with my Honda. I've been fixing it up (being my dd) so that I can start back on my Festiva projects again. I'm going to be on the hunt myself for a G-series tranny, and I'd definitely say that cable is the way to go. I don't think we got the xr2 in Canada though, so I'll be looking for one from a 323 gt.
