I have only heard good things. But I'm sure parts on the motor are going to be hard to get. Off the top of my head I'm thinking its an Izuso (spelling) motor. We had one come in for tires & the owner did nothing but brag @ it.....Some people like to read fiction,I prefer to read repair manuals. Weird I know-

Totally aside from this thread my buddy and I are going to (try to) install a Cummins (Dodge truck origin) 5.9 litre 6 cylinder (pre-electronics) into an old, formerly big block, chev dump truck this winter. Diesel fuel has 30% more energy than equivalent gasoline and the folks that properly design (excuse me, GM) these motors beef everything up for durability, longevity and ease of service. Isuzu, by the way, is reknowned for diesels, and best I know, supply all of GM's current Duramax offerings.
I personally would like to try fitting a pre-electronics VW 1.6 diesel into a Festy. I can't imagine that 60 mpg US would be out of the question but the torque engine would likely pull an unprepared car apart first time you stepped on the throttle.
