  • Festiva tried to kill itself this weekend

Well maybe it was trying to get a 'nose job'. Traffic was thick and the car in front of me decided to lock up their brakes. I slam on my brakes and pop, to the floor my pedal goes. Oh and I dont have an Ebrake. Managed to get it stopped with the gears and whatnot only a few inches from the other car. Was only a few blocks away from home and managed to get there safely.

After inspecting one of the rear lines blew out where they go up near the fuel tank. Replaced that line and then getting ready to bleed the brakes and bleeder screw broke off. So I got to replace the wheel cylinder and then the line that attaches to it.

Not how I wanted to spend my weekend..

Rusty brake lines like to wait until a panic situation to burst.

      I'm always doing that ....

Out driving when I should be home working on my car! A common mistake ...

Keep in mind, those lines are all the same age!

I tested mine out last week when the third car turning left accros my lane must have been watching the cars in front of him! I can only say thank goodness for the Aspire swap! That was the biggest adrenaline rush I have had in a long time!
Probably a good idea for all these twenty year ol cars to get a good looking over in the brake line area.
Aspires and Sways all around, Miata B6 installed, KYB G2Rs just installed in front. Wish for coil overs someday.

this is why every state should have a safety program. e-brake operation is MANDATORY for the very reason you're writing this post.

            Uh, no there not!

            Some have been upgraded!

Discuss improvements to your Festiva or Aspire in the handling, braking, wheels and tires areas.
