I was really sick of looking at my ugly Festiva so I did a quick 8 hour resto on it.
Painted the wheels, sanded the rust, replaced the headlights, touched up front bumper, painted the grill (although I think I'm gonna repaint it red again), etc.
Big difference from blotchy red w/primer to just being all one color. I bought a can of Rustoleum "Sunrise Red" and amazingly it's an exact match to the Hot Red from the factory. The only difference is it has no metallic in it.
Also fixed the sloppy shifter and adjusted the parking brake, ready for winter!

The little car looks proud standing there all fixed up. Congrats and i agree painting the bumpers would be a step up.

A buddy of mine had a shop next to his business that did just that. They would buy cars at the auction, drive them to the shop detail them and run them back through usually the same day for a quick flip. One day they got a Honda and thought it needed a tuneup. When they got it back to the shop they realized it had a rod sticking out of the block. They JB welded around the rod to keep oil from leaking out and ran it back through and actually made a couple bucks.

He's talking about painting the grill back to red color. Leave bumpers black like they are.

It's like one of those wight loss before and after ads. The first photo the poor thing looks so sad and depressed, about to give up on life, then in the second it's ready to take on the world with confidence. Love it!
