  • 1992 Autozam AZ-1 thread from VW Vortex forum

It's in Canada, and in one of the pics there are two Festiva GTAs:

The AZ-1 is a cool looking little car with gullwing doors. It's also a Kei car. Both GTAs are red with that weird white front end.

BTW, more pages to that thread, so explore. On page two there are some comparison pics with larger vehicles. I tried to post up a pic but it was too large.

There is also a review: about 1600 pounds, with a turbo 3 cylinder with a 9000 rpm redline.

Kei cars are so ridiculously awesome... unfortunately, the sporty ones are pretty rare around town. I see Honda Beats and Suzuki Cappuccinos from time to time, but those Autozam's really are a rarity. Seems like most of the Cappuccinos and Alto Works cars ended up doing circle track, autocross, and gymkhana racing smashing opponents with twice the cylinders and power output.

The trifecta (AZ/Beat/Cappu) were known as the ABCスポーツ軽自動車 - sports micro cars... and are very much sought after the way Pony Mustangs are romanticized in the US by old school muscle crowds or clean Eclipse/Talon/Lasers are in the import scene. There's a souped up Alto Works (basically a FWD Cappuccino) down the street from my apartment... and the sound of the blow-off valve at 8000RPM sends shivers down my spine every single time.

. My 80-year-old downstairs neighbor has a Morris Minor in his garage, just collecting dust. Think I'll talk to him about it.....

I have never heard of it either. Whilst the festiva is one of the smallest cars, it is also on of the tallest cars...lol

Lol forget looking tiny next to other cars, it looks tiny next to that dual sport bike!

I NEED one of those cars. I think wifey would even let me sell the Miata if we were getting one of those lol.
                  No festiva for me ATM...

                    It's not only turbo - it's 3cyl, turbo, mid-engine, RWD.

It's an incredible combo. I'd love one. Gull-wing doors are a weakness for me, lol
