    whats the best way to get the carbon off the bottom the my chrome tips w/o messing them up.

    Use a SOS pad ,If they are stainless or chrome ,it will take it right off and make them look new again.
    Wet it ,scrub them ,and rinse them off.

      I would personally use a softer scotch-brite pad or just a clean rag and a good quality metal polish. I don't really like using SOS or steel wool pads on chrome. For me it always left swirl marks in it.

        mothers chrome polish.........also a brass brush will work ...it wont scratch the chrome but takes the deposits off...
