  • worth it?

Ok well I went to the jy today and was lookin around for a bp. There's one. In the whole freakin yard! Anyway its in a 92 escort gt

The distributors gone and somebody just cut all the wires goin to it. It says like 6600 miles ok the odo, but I'm sure its rolled over a time or two. The inside of the valve cover is golden as far as I can tell. If I get this one I'm gonna have to strip the whole engine harness out to use in my festiva (carbed car). Is it worth it or should I just keep lookin for a whole donor car? There's a couple of aspires and about 6 b8s in there too. So I can get my aspire brakes and stuff anyway. What do Yall think about the engine?

Id grab the engine and just find a Fi festiva harness to swap into your carbed car. You will also need the B3 FI injector harness to use on the BP so everything will plug and play. If you grab that engine, be sure to grab the ECU aswell.

Hard to tell why a car is put in a junkyard unless its obvious structural damages. Sometimes a donor car is the better chouce since you need a harness anyway. However You dont need a escort harness to make the BP work, in the how-to you only have to make a handful of modifications to an efi festiva harness, and the matching ECU of course. Members on here might sell you one so you only have to install it.

Yeah I know, I was just thinkin it'd be easier with the factory harness for the engine. Then I wouldn't have to mess with anything, just put it in

and you don't need the BP distributor plug, you can use the festiva one, just need to install the fourth wire into it, which you can get from another plug that uses the same type of pins.

The carbed distributor plug? I'm more worried about the distributor itself missing, I'm sure I could get it wired right some way. Think its worth takin a chance on? I mean it could have a hole through a piston or somethin.

I was talking the FI plug, sorry. Yah you run the risk of the engine being bad, but it might worth the rebuild or for part. How much are they charging for the engine?

a little over a hundred bucks. With everything else I would need from the car, I could get out for about 200-250 it looks like. Definitely doable.

For that price, I'd say it's worth it. If there is a problem with the mechanics, you could still rebuild the engine for a low price. Or have a lot of spare parts.
