  • pre engine removal Q's

I was wondering if there is anything special I should do to the engine before I take it out of the car, like any kind of oil additive I should put in to keep it from gumming up if it sits awhile, or just drain the oil, or not drain the oil? It's got 170k, but it's still a solid running engine that hasn't given me any problems at all, in the last 4 years I've known the car I've just done regular routine maintenance, so someday someone may have a use for it again.

Transmission too, is there anything I should do to it?

Why are you taking out a good engine?

For the engine I would suggest pulling the plugs and putting a little oil down all the cylinders: this will keep the rings from rusting or sticking.

They make a cylinder fog lube spray I'd use that with about a table spoon of oil down each spark plug hole. Leave the oil in it and stuff a rag in all intake and exhaust holes and wrap with plastic. Bag and tape

Indeed, why? Especially since your signature says:

"...if it ain't broke don't fix it!"

Looks like you're in the rustbelt, tho. Did the tinworm get to it?
