  • Aspire tranny in a Festiva

This is a bit offtopic, but I was looking for info on aspire transmission in festiva and your thread is on top...

So, does aspire manual works in festiva with festiva axles as is? I know aspire axles are different, so how does it work in festiva?

Russian, your post was moved to it own thread.
Do not append your question to another thread because it is on top of your list!
Your question had nothing to do with the topic in that thread.

I believe it has a little shorter gearing but it will bolt up fine.

Plus one^^^ tach might be a hair higher at GPS speed,
speedo might be one or two mph fast.

You will need to use the aspire x member or fab a front mount for this swap .
I've done this and the speedo is not a noticeable difference .
With the mtns were I live it really helped a lot..
New build on the way .

^ that's because the speedo grar on the diff is the same size as the festy gear and same # of teeth.

The ring and pinion goes from 3:77 to 4:10 ?
I might need even more than that before I get through.

I have to ask..You must not be a tree hugger?
              is there a story there?

If a tree falls on a festiva and no one is around to hear it, it's better he didn't watch it happen kind of thing.

Wait a second, looks like aspire rear transmission mount is different - it's mounted to the x-member with two strait bolts while festiva rear transmission mount uses one 45 degree bolt.

So, what is different exactly? Rear mount, front mount of both transmission mounts? I guess tranny case is different since we can not simply use both mounts and x-member off a festiva.

the speedo gear ring is on the outside of the diff carrier (spinning the same speed as the wheels)

as for the tree inquerry... here pix are included

(on the picture it's festiva front mount on the left and aspire front mount on the right - different height, different distance between the bolts)

We have just finished putting this aspire transmission into festiva, with festiva x-member, festiva rear mount and aspire front mount:

                        1) the rear trans mount - it's the same on the trans side but not same on the x-member side (two bolts on aspire vs one bolt on festiva), so you can mount festiva rear mount on aspire trans

                        2) the front trans mount - seems like trans case is slightly different, seems like you can not mount festiva mount bracket on aspire trans. Also, using upper half of aspire mount with lower half of festiva mount would not work due to different height - see picture

So, since the distance between the bolts is different between aspire mount and festiva x-member, we have used the existing rear hole and drilled a new hole in front of the front x-member hole for the front trans mount. (front, front, front - wow)

This is how I did it, no drilling required, bolts right in too.

You have used a half of festiva front mount right? This did not work for our BP swap - the alternator pulley was rubbing the body. What engine do you have?

The engine is still stock 1.3. I'm not sure this would work for the other engine options.
I didn't see where the op mentioned it being a Bp, maybe I missed that.
