I went to Advanced auto today to get a water pump , timing belt, etc for an engine I plan on putting in Festdiva. I got out to the parking lot and checked out the water pump and the impeller slide right off the shaft into my hand. Wouldn't that have been fun to replace after engine was in ? They always give you the bit about a lifetime warranty like that would make replacing it easier. Makes me wonder about the rest of the stuff Ive got from them. I not near as worried about the cost of the parts as I am about having to replace a faulty part. Now I'm thinking a half shaft I replaced on Freshtiva is going bad after 4000 miles !! No problem its under warranty.

The new water pump I got from A-Zone for my B6 was defective as well. Fortunately, I noticed the hairline crack in the pump body and realized it didn't belong there and took it back for a replacement.
Check your parts carefully before installing them!

Advance and auto-zone carry the same pumps right? ASC or something like that. I got one from O-reillys, master I think, and it lasted 6 months, they were only going to replace it, I wanted a refund, I wasn't about to install another one, because the vehicle it was on was a bitch, I bought another one from auto-zone.97 Ford Aspire 2dr 5 sp

This better not happen to me. I just got in from the garage, I was replacing the water pump in the BP car. I assumed it was good but now after reading this thread it better be good.
I've never had to replace a water pump ever. Now 3 weeks ago my BP water pump sprung a leak. I parked it since I was working on the other car. Then a week and a half ago I was changing the oil in the daily driver and there was a puddle of coolant on the ground. When I pulled that one off all 4 mounting bolts were loose. I changed it anyways since I had everything apart. Could have gotten away with a gasket and re-tightening.

Just think that when you go to a dealership and have somthing repaired, that they buy parts from the parts stores just like you and me. Only they mark them up in price and charge you for a genuine whatever dealership your at part. Sucks doesn't it?
HENRYFast, fun and good gas mileage. 91' Festiva(RIP) and 96' Aspire(RIP). The website is no more.
