  • This is what i got to deal with last Wednesday

2 semi drivers escape injury and 1 is sent to the Med in Memphis following a 3-truck accident Wednesday morning outside Reyno. Thick fog is believec to be the primary cause of the accident.

I was about 2minutes behind this (if i hadn't dropped my eggs while making a sandwhich i would have been right there) I almost ended up under it. I missed my my first period class which i had a test in.

The fog was so bad you could stand on one shoulder of the road and not see the other shoulder.

It never ceases to amaze me to see the trailers leaning that far over, the landing gear plowed in the pavement and is holding it but it still looks like it defies the laws of physics. (check out the video in the link too)

Wow, glad no one got killed. I wonder if this explains the accident:
"Holland describes making his way over the cargo of spilled frozen meat to where the driver was pinned in her truck" :female:

hey! i know quite a few females who can out drive you....

it's a weather related accident. though i would think that if the fog was that thick, a professional driver would pull over and wait for it to lift so as to see propperly and avoid such an accident...

Sorry that was wrong. I'm out of town and bored in a hotel room. I was just messing around. You can run into dense fog in a matter of seconds. If you slow down or pullover you can get rear ended. If you keep going you can rear end the guy in front of you, who decided to slow down.

What do you mean by out drive? I'm a super safe driver. I'm not out to win any races. My last accident was over 20 years ago and that was an old man that ran into me. I pride myself in being a very defensive and offensive driver. I would routinely get driving awards at a previous job, when no one else would. I do realize that accidents happen, but most of the time it is a lapse in judgement such as driving to fast for conditions, driving while distracted or just not having the proper driving education. I'm usually pretty conservative regarding laws or regulations, but really wish driver education in the country was a bit better.

Regarding my female comment, I'm not a truck driver, but between my hundreds of thousands of miles driven in town and many thousands cross country, the majority of my near misses have been with female drivers. On my current drive from Madison, AL to Denver, Co I was driving an F700 that allowed me to look into the passing car. I was amazed at the amount of people playing with their phones. It was about 2:1 women to men though. Don't get me wrong. I love women, I just wish the ones that don't, would take driving more serious. And I know quite a few guys that can't drive worth a crap too.
Once again I'm glad no one was killed unlike the tragedy that happened in Florida a few days ago. http://www.ocala.com/article/2012020...y-I-75-crashes

yeah it was pretty bad, i was driving off of the truck in front of me if he hit his brakes i hit mine and the shoulder just in case (unsafe i know but safer than driving totally blind) the fog was that bad for about 30miles and it lasted a long time i got there at about 8:16 and i left close to 11 and you could still only see about 1/4mile up the road. I agree their are women driver that can drive, but i also call bs on the fact that "woman drivers are safer than men"

Yeah i saw that, sad. Unfortunately for truckers bad weather is a lose lose situation, if they don't drive through it they lose pay and get bad marks for late delivery, if they drive through and wreck their lives are at risks and they are screwed insurance wise. Not much they can do either way.

Like i said I'm very lucky i wasn't in it, i took the shoulder and then pulled into the diner. It was dumb for them to be hauling beans in that condition any ways, the lady didn't have much choice but the farmers didn't have anything to rush.
