Even though Dale's Festiva has been in my family for almost my entire life, I'm just now learning to drive a stick. I took it out on the interstate the other night on my way to get Girl Scout cookies for Dale. I was running late, and already going 75 in a 55, when I decided to see what the Silver Bullet really had. I had just barely buried the needle when I saw the flashing red and blue lights.
So I pulled off to the side of the road. The officer comes up to the car, asks for my license and registration, and asks me if I knew how fast he had clocked me. To be honest, I really didn't, so I shook my head. "Ma'am, you were going 89." I looked back at him and said the first thing I could think of.
"Sir, my speedometer doesn't even go up that high." He poked his head in my window and shined his flashlight on my dash. He shook his head and stepped back to appraise my bucket of rust. "I'll be right back," he said, and started to walk back to his car. He stopped at his car, and glanced back at mine. I could see him shaking his head again as he walked back to my car and handed me my documents.
"Ma'am, I'm sorry to have bothered you. Have a good evening." And with that, he was gone, and I was off the hook.
Just thought that was awesome, and it pretty much seals my love for this car.
