supersonic parts washer advice

I have searched 4-5 times for different variants of parts washers on FF and haven't had any luck. I know Zanzer shows one here: http://www.fordfestiva.com/forums/sh...rebuild&page=4 but I can't, right now, justify paying more than maybe 100 bucks for one.

Does anyone own one? pros / cons? model #?

I'm looking for one that's relatively medium sized and heated and for this thread to be helpful to folks doing their own cleaning

so from what I can tell, Zanzer has a Branson without a sticker on the front. They seem to be the ones to go for. but all replies appreciated

I use one for carburetor rebuilding, they remove rust and corrosion that
other methods fail to work. The contents have to be suspended or the vibrations
can damage the cleaners basin. Mine is about the same size but is all metal
and military surplus. It is heated. You can buy solution or mix your own recipe.

The hot water washer does most of the real cleaning work.

Pressure washer next..Carb dip tank next..supersonic parts washer
listed in order of frequency of use.

note though, if I lived where things rusted and corroded easier
the supersonic parts washer would be used a lot more.

It came in a lot purchase at auction..I have had it for 10 years or so
Make and model I will check in a few hours. It came in my cleaning
station with the required ventilation. It was in some kind of area 51
lab..meaning further information about its use was not made available.

I really like clean parts, tools and this machine is unbelievable how it can
remove blockages in the passages of carb castings. It will clean rust
and corrosion out of injectors that my snap=on injection cleaning machine
or any other chemical process cannot do, and it can do this without damage
to plastics and fine copper windings and insulator materials. Even the electrical
terminals come out looking brand new!! Yes, I absolutely like it but if i were
to start from scratch it would not be the first machine I purchased. I failed
to mention, for small in engine compartment clean ups I like the small
steam cleaners.

You can get small ultra sonic washers from various places, ebay or harbour freight. I use them at work and have a small one at home for cleaning injectors etc. Even new you can find them for under $100.00

yeah, from what I see on amazon though, most of them don't last past 4 months with regular use. for now, my injectors are soaking in WD just to start the process. 30 bucks is 30 bucks I guess. might have to just bite the bullet for a while. I'm not a fan of most of HF's chicago electric line...but looking at the reviews on their 2.5 liter unit, I might go get one tonight. and I'll probably get the 2 year warranty cuz I'm not gonna deal with issues

Hey Walth....are you using WD40 for corrosion removal? If so it is not very good...it is more or less just a water dispersant. PB Blaster is great for removing corrosion.

no corrosion, just grime. I'm going to use purple power or power dissolver 50/50ish with the sonic and then a good rinse and compressed air to dry.

bought one tonight before going out to eat with the in-law's... just put in purple power 50/50ish with water and turned it on. I've done two 8 minute cycles. Here's a pic of it in action. seems to be working. it's on sale for 74.99 but 20% off gave me 59.99 and I got 2 year warranty for 9.99 and I got a free set of screwdrivers, lol never waste free coupons if I can help it

Thats a awesome deal , they are really a cool tool...I like any tool

That guy had a nice write but he missed the point for ultrasonic.
It takes time, I leave mine for hours or overnight.
Its not made for greases really, it implodes or cavitates a medium
against the surface to be cleaned, this works especially well for oxidization
primarily rust or corrosion.
The big bench and ventilation system with mine was apparently for
the alcohol and acetone they may have been using. Ultrasonic can
generate hydrogen from water so be careful at all times and don't
use flammables like gasoline the result burns with more power
than your engine!!
