  • Sad fate of DaveG's old "Yellow Banana"

I was at Pick n Pull today...

So you can guess what I saw, and not in the parking lot. They had a yellow '90 automatic in the 'yard and as I looked in it I saw the cable hooking up to remotely open and close the RR window. Then I saw the homemade rear cargo cover in the back seat, and the lock on the glove compartment. It was indeed DaveG's old car. Very little body damage, so it looked as though something just quit and the last owner had not bothered to run down what was wrong and keep her on the road.

I got the right side mirror, but I was there to get some Aspire parts and didn't have the time or the room to pick more. I'll call Dave and let him know.

Here is an old thread on Ohiostiva III with pics. Dave's is the third one from the left beside the semi in the very first picture:

The fifth picture down is a real good pic of YB on the freeway on our first OS convoy to Moraine.

I just talked with him on the phone and gave him the bad news.

His blue one is still going strong though.

              Remember, he got married.

He did say he wanted to come to another Ohiostiva meet. He'd prefer the fall one, but maybe I can convince him to come to the Spring Fling, even if only for the Summit portion.

I'm not sure. There was very little body damage to one rear quarter area ahead of the wheel well and maybe a few more dents. The LF fender was pulled out but looked like that happened in the 'yard itself. There were the dual "tracks" in the cowl from the hood flying up, but nothing else seemed too amiss. I think it stopped running and the last owner didn't bother to try to resuscitate it.

Dave said the guy he sold it to told him he had sold it to someone else for $1000, but Dave seemed skeptical of that explanation. Dave talked to him just a few weeks ago, IIRC.

Another possibly road-able beast off the road.
