Rust on the cam lobes... Not good. Should I try to get cams or think they'd clean up with a little work? Appears to be surface rust, doesn't look like its pittted at all. Head looks almost new.

Congrats! It looks like it will clean up. If not there are bp's in the yards here or someone else may have cams setting around.

Thought FMS cams were the wat to go anyway! Those should clean and run a long time
though, what a deal, wow! Yards around here want $700 and up!

That would sure look good in a blue car.

Fms has cams for a bp?

It turns over about 1 or 2 revs and then stops. It looks like the head is new cuz the block is the same color blue and the head is not painted. The trans bolts are out of it and it looks like the trans is a little sideways on the engine. Could it be that the torque converter is just binding up when it gets to a certain point? I really hope its not a valve hitting a piston...

I would definately be taking that trans off asap. Before you dig any deeper. Did it come with any warranty? Ya never know.

Ok well got the trans off and was still frozen. Put an impact wrench on the crank bolt and turned it some, but not much. Backed it off from there and it started turning free all the way around.

I also Pulled the pan and the bottom end is good. Got some compression on all 4 cyl (enough to blow my hand off the plug well). What would Yall suggest? Should I pull the head to look at the cylinders or leave well enough alone? Another thing is the parts house wants 120 bucks for a head gasket set! I think I paid like 25 for a head set for the b3. Does that price sound right?

The timing is also off about 3 teeth on the intake cam and about a tooth on the exhaust. Should be ok if I I just re time it right?
