Festiva Diesel Engine?!?!

Anyone know if Ford offered a diesel engine for the Festy? I have a '90 that I want to convert to run on waste cooking oil and need a diesel engine.

If there is not a diesel made to fit the Festy, what do you think would be a good candidate? Maybe the VW Rabbit engine?

I can't think of any diesel engines made for the festiva. If I were making a diesel conversion, I'd search around and find a ~40hp diesel lawn tractor engine. It will have as much torque or more than the stock festiva engine, and get a lot better milage. Probably run you under $2k for a new one from kubota.

gearing would be all messed up, diesels only go to about 3k rpms.
