  • New Festiva Owner

    Hello!

Been lurking about for weeks now, sniping information here and there, but now that I have photos and my 1989 Festiva L's on the road, thought it was time for a first post.

Bought on March 11, 2012 from a junkyard with just over 80k miles, with a minor transmission fluid leak a couple of days later (huge thanks to my buddy Ryan for taking care of that outside of a Five Guys), but otherwise entirely roadworthy.

Needs new brakes and bled (en route), new tires (en route), suspension's very loose front driver side (two or three weeks), and I'm probably not very bright for highway driving everyday, but it's currently my main transport car.

From everything I've read so far (spent a couple of days reading nearly 300 pages of 'What have you done to your Festiva today!?' as well as practically memorizing the articles section) I have a lot of work to do, starting with some freakin' cupholders

Thought I'd introduce myself and the car, since this is the site that basically convinced me to buy this over a lot of other options, and you'll be seeing a lot more of it in the near future (and annoying noobish questions :lol.

Welcome from the site from another newbe. I purchased my Festiva on March 5th 2012. Bought it because I wanted to have a gas miser in the stable without spending a ton of money. Sure was glad to see there is a decent forum for these little cars. Good luck with yours , they are fairly easy cars to work on compared to some I have.

Welcome! I'm a noob too, I saw a turquoise festiva and jumped on the first decent festiva I saw on craig's list last month. Btw, I feel you about getting cup holders. Good luck with your car!

welcome, plan on following the FL crew to madness in October. You have plenty of time to get that front end straightened out. Enjoy it and you may find yourself being addicted sooner than you know.

I know, I found out about it too late and couldn't get the time off work. Expect a slightly older version of my car in October though!

As for the cupholders, didn't find too many donor Proteges worth anything at one of the two local jy. There's a promising 96 Escort LX that I'm going to go back and take a second look at this week, though. Any recommendations on what I should grab besides the center console? Door panels maybe (they have pockets)?

Hey! post a WTB in the "For Sale/Wanted Area". Many parts parts sold/traded by members all the time (we do have some HOARDERS...humm) I know some Escort consoles will turn up.

...and there is that Escort console you mentioned

Here are pics and a write up of Escort console install, and applies to the Protege install too, as they are almost the same console
