There are plenty of benefits...if you're the guy selling a 50 cent magnet for $20!

I'm not much of an electronics guy, but I bet you could install some type of adjustable resistor in the O2 sensor wire and put a dial on the dash. You could use a wideband to monitor the A/F ratio and install an EG temp guage. Maybe you could tweek it to stoich or slightly lean during highway driving. I guess it depends on how lean the factory settings are and what they left on the table.

yes but would you go FI or change intakes on a FI aspy engine and put the carby and carby intake on it from a early festy.

also I have a 12 volt high output blower motor that I could pipe up with ram air type piping to the carb. thoughts?

still forgetting about the FUEL.... must be pure gasoline or diesel (that is unless you can find an easily flowable fuel that has higher BTU count).

Looks like OP took fuel out of the equation, just parts. To me that would
be early injected 5 sp car with latest aspire block and head, newest injectors.

I was looking at dollars per BTU as for myself. I totally get what you are
saying, like to get the little mpg thing at the bottom of some of our signatures
as high as possible we would need the highest btu content fuel we could get
              that is legal.

I am so hammered by people walking in wanting something magic to help
lower fuel costs I think that way first!

I would want the lightest car, 12 inch tires unless a 13 can be found that
rolls as easy as those 12's . Manuel belts same reason, 5sp should have the
taller gears in the same early car. later engines have roller stuff.

Then I would sneak all kinds of tricks past the inspectors to win!!!

How light can a Festy get...without getting crazy or giving up function? 1500Lbs? I'm talking B3/5sp, no A/C or options, gutted interior with racing seats (blow molded), fiberglass hood and maybe rear hatch, aluminum wheels, etc.. Basically, race trim with heater and lights and roll-up windows. Could even do plexiglass quarter wing glass and rear window (not sure if that's leagal). 1200Lbs?

Maybe stick on some skinny 15x4.5 wheels and 135/80 -165/80 tires from an old VW bug, for taller gearing. It'd hurt for city, but help for hwy. Put 'em on (front only, so you only need two) for road trips. Would need wheel adaptors tho (4x130mm bolt pattern).
