  • So uhh.. yeah my festiva tried to kill me today

Right so on my way back from the gas station i was slowing down (pretty quick) to pull into my Buddy's drive way (and I'm braking hard!). I'm doing about 25 mph and all of a sudden *Crack, Grinds, skreek, metal grinding on ground*. Tire smoke every where, i just barely get into my Buddy's driveway (with out hitting a tree!) my Buddy's run over and are like WTF JUST HAPPENED!?!?!. So as i get out i notice my front driver side wheel pretty much under the fender. What happened (or so it looks i havent gotten to see it in day light yet), is the sway bar aka the other 1/2 of my a-arm came out from the heavy braking and heavy wheels on the car (mercury capri wheels). So the sway bar pulled right out and lucky i found the other half of the bushing on the road!

So hopefully ill have some pictures up tomorrow ... hopefully ill have her back together and ill make sure that nothing is broken or bent way out of norm. All i can say is my 12 pack of corona and my 30 pack of miller light are going to be my best friends for tonight..

And before any one post, i know it was my fault so don't gimme bs...

We'll want a full report, young man!

That's coming awful close to "wrecking" your car. NOT BEFORE OHIOSTIVA!!

Are you sure it was your front stabilizer bar or a ball joint coming out?

If it was the stabilizer bar, how'd it happen? You didn't tighten the mount bolts enough?

Sounds weird. Hope nothing's damaged beyond a quick fix.

it was looking as though (although it was dark outside), that the sway bar (stabilizer bar w/e) nut just came off and or the sway bar broke off on the end. Hopefully a almost easy fix and hopefully nothing broke / bent

I definitely do not seem to have good luck with cars...

So yeah, the sway bar retaining nut came off (i must have forgotten to put a coder pin in :? . So i put the sway bar back in and made sure that there was a coder pin in it, and shes good to go. Just needs a new fender  luckily i don't think any thing broke but i gota look at it some more.

Had a similar thing happen to me with my Blue Festiva. I was turning around in a cul-de-sac and the control arm popped off, causing the passenger side front wheel to fold in under the car.
