    does any one know the proper names of the two things at the bottom of the radiator that have nipple connecting to the tranny lines?

      bungs or nipples.... i'm thaking for granted that you're refering to the tubed orifices ONLY ont he trans fluid cooler.
      Trees aren't kind to me...

          Yeah, those are called trans cooler pipes. If you have a stick shift just cap them off or loop a line from one to the other. Unless the trans cooler has ruptured and those tubes are leaking antifreeze, then you probably need a new rad.
          No festiva for me ATM...
