Chaps: You wear them when you go into heavy, gnarly brush or maybe there are rattlesnakes that might bite you. They protect your legs! Wear 'em with heavy, tall boots.

If you ever watch westerns, cowboys wear them when rounding up cattle and chaps protect legs from brush and other stuff like safety guy said. They are made of heavy leather.

I think bikers wear them as well, to protect in the event of an accident.

Knowing the confusion though, I'm sure the context is probably directed more towards chaps without a posterior section? Those I don't understand either...

Aren't chaps by definition without a "posterior"? Otherwise they would be pants...
Another reason a biker would wear them to keep the wind from whipping your pants against your legs, plus it blocks the wind when its a little chilly.

^ I think he means the people who wear chaps w/ out any undergarments, possibly a codpiece, resulting in a rahter risque fashion statement

I wonder if cows find it ironic that the cowboys are wearing parts of the cows' ancestors in order to round them up.

^^ I doubt they are too concerned with it, they are too preoccupied with their original mission on this planet, ie. taking it over at the request of their alien overlords.
                  No festiva for me ATM...

beef... the real reason aliens abduct our cows...

I read an interesting article about replacing cows with kangaroos for meat and leather. They use significantly less grazing land per pound of meat and emit way less methane.

I understand that kangaroo leather is used on athletic shoes in some brands.

Now I'm wondering about dressing up a 'roo as a huge pastel colored Easter Bunny, hopping around and attacking people, stealing their food. Cool, eh?
