Chaps: You wear them when you go into heavy, gnarly brush or maybe there are rattlesnakes that might bite you. They protect your legs! Wear 'em with heavy, tall boots.

If you ever watch westerns, cowboys wear them when rounding up cattle and chaps protect legs from brush and other stuff like safety guy said. They are made of heavy leather.Thom-Lifes too short, don't blink

I think bikers wear them as well, to protect in the event of an accident.

Aren't chaps by definition without a "posterior"? Otherwise they would be pants...

I understand that kangaroo leather is used on athletic shoes in some brands.
Now I'm wondering about dressing up a 'roo as a huge pastel colored Easter Bunny, hopping around and attacking people, stealing their food. Cool, eh?
