  • HELP! 1988 323 B6 info needed

I have searched FF.com, the net, and PM'd people.
I really need to know if the 1988 323 B6 is carbed or, EFI.
    I reserved a B6 from an 88 323.
Does anyone know if this is carbed or not?

Was told it was carbed, but searching/asking has given me doubts.
Also rockauto shows different gaskets for the B6 and B3.
I was told the B3 intake will fit the 88 B6.
    The 88 323 B6 is 2nd generation right?

If I dont cancel the order before they pull it, I may be charged $$$$$

    Thanks all!!!!!

    Dan

I'm pretty sure all 323's sold in the states with the early B6 were EFI, with the vac advance style EFI system like the 89' Auto Festy's have. And yes a B3 intake will bolt right onto a early B6.
-93' L BP swap/e-series, coilovers, RIO front swap, redrilled festy drums, Miata 14" 7 spokes.
-88' Mazda 323 SE, work in progress..
    -85' Nissan Sentra 5 spd.

NONE of the north american bound 323s were carbed. yours will be an EFI engine. also, an 88 B6 is a first generation unit (this is what you want).
      Trees aren't kind to me...

      currently: 2 88Ls (Scrappy and Jersey), 88LX, 90L(Pepe), 91L, 91GL (Skippy) 93 GL Sport (the Mighty Favakk), 94 (Bruce) & 95 Aspire SEs, 97 Aspire (The Joker),
94 Justy 4WD, 87 Fiero GT, plus 2 parts cars. That's my fleet.

Ok, that sucks. I will have to cancel the reserve on the 57,000 mile B6 I found!

But here is a cunundrum: The 88 B2200 Mazda truck IS carbed!

        Go figure.

            Thanks everybody!
Unfortunately, that is not what I wanted to hear.

            So...how do I get an intake for a carb on a B6?

            Any takers? :p

Festyboy, you are right, I DO WANT that engine!!!!!

Its just that I looked on rockauto and they show different gaskets for B6 and B3 intakes.
Bolt holes look to line up, but gaskets dont look alike at all!

If the B3 intake WILL bolt up....ITS A GO!!!!!
Are you 100 percent sure the B3 intake will bolt to the B6?

A lot ($$$) depends on it bolting up.

i'm not responseable if the B6 turns out to be a 2nd gen... (intake off to the side, not over the top).

you WANT the intake that looks like a Festy EFI intake (air tube over the top of the VC)

The intake gaskets look different because the B6 ports are bigger. Also they are EFI so there is an injector relief in one corner, which a carb'd B3 may not have. You should be good-to-go!

My first thought when I read that, was....Hmmm, does my B3 intake need matched to the B6 gasket so the ports match?
