Wow... Feels good to be back on FF.com! If anybody remembers me, let me get you up to speed with my Festiva past...
My uncle bought a Festiva LX in October 1988. In early 1993 when it was totalled in a head on (My aunt only had a broken leg) it had 199,000 miles on it. He went on to own 3 more festivas. One is underneath his back porch for parts, and the other is driven every day to work by my aunt to this day.
I started dating my wife in December of 2001. She lived 70 miles away from me, and I was driving a 1985 GMC 2500 Van. Well I found my first 1988 L shortly there after. I put 36000 miles on it in 6 months, and sadly watched her die when I hit a log on the freeway which hit my oil pan.
I'll skip the rest. My brother has owned 3 festivas. I have owned a total of 3 festivas and 2 aspires.
I found my brother in law a Festiva about 5 years ago for $50. He decided to make it a commuter car. We went to pick'n'pull and pulled an engine out of a 1995 aspire that only had 56k miles on it (but some SERIOUS rear end collision damage) He had the engine completely rebuilt. New camshaft, pistons, bearings, EVERYTHING. He then put 50k miles on it getting nearly 50mpg. He recently decided he wanted something faster/fancier, so he bought an ION Redline. Well that brings me to where I'm at now.
He will sell me his 1990 Festiva with an engine that only has 50k miles on it. All it needs is front wheel bearings (Grrr... stupid bearing need pressed in). He is going to sell it to me for $300, so it looks like I am once again IN THE FESTIVA GAME!
Sorry for the long read. I'll keep you all updated.
