You say the car died while driving down the road and would not restart. This doesn't sound like a worn out carb. What have you tried? New filter? Does the pump push gas out?

No that is my 91 that died going down the road this one coughs and sputters if you give it more than half throttle I'm sure it needs a carb you don't happen to have one laying around do you ?

Well...yeah...I do. I pulled a complete B3 carby engine that was a known good runner. I sorta had plans for it. But...I'll PM you with my phone number.

Before you try anything super extreme, try replacing your plugs and wires. I had the same problem on my Ranger, and my Honda. Replacing plugs and wires did the trick, I would try that first as it's a lot cheaper.

Also check the fuel filter! My '89L had problems running and I told a shop to check the fuel filter, which I thought they had.

They hadn't. Years later, when I cut the front end off of old Muttstiva, I removed the ORIGINAL FUEL FILTER, dated 1989.

That's only one reason I do work myself now.

It has a new filter, doesn't it? Plugs and wires are a good suggestion.

We swapped carbs, then discovered the dizzy had a bad vac diaphragm. A second used distributer also had a bad diaphragm. I sold Justin a used dizzy with a good diaphragm.

I have the cap and wires from the dizzy that I sold him. Also, I think my spare B3 has new plugs. We could try these. After that we could try a different carb and intake, off my spare B3. I know my spare B3 was running when I pulled it, about 9 months ago.

We know it's getting some amount of spark at the plugs.

What condition are the plugs in?

We could try a different a different set of plug wires. Try a different coil?

I'm going to try an up-grade coil on Festus, even though the stock one is working. If my 'new' coil works, we could put my stock one on Catstiva just to be sure.

I have an extra set of plug wires we could try. I'll go ahead and try my coil swap tonight.

                          Doh...

I guess you said that already.

I changed my coil tonite...new coil improved my performance, but we know the old one works if you want it.

I guess I could loan you my carb/intake combo, just to see if it would fix the problem. We could swap it this weekend(?)
