'88 LX runs so much better !!

Just a note, I got our '88 white LX running so much better, put a new
distributor, coil, cap, etc. on her electronically as it would quit running
when hot, or warmed up good, and what a difference !
Because of age, she was a bit tired in the elec. dept. HA HA
Anyway, I thank you guys from a few weeks ago, when you suggested
what to look for. Our '88 has 218,000 plus miles and so good on fuel,
our local price is now at $3.67 a gal, regular un-leaded, but you still see
these big 4 x 4 trucks running around, whew ! :nono:
I do see a lot of older trucks for sale though on street corners...probably
can not afford the payments on the newer stuff.
Thanks for the suggestions from you members about my little car in the trouble shooting of it, later .........

If you have any other problems, try changing sparkplug wires & your timing belt & giving your tires extra air pressure(38psi?). The timing belt change should at least prevent timing belt breakage.

But the change also dramatically restored my Festiva's mpg to its old standard.... even better. I took a nearly 400 mile day trip through our Cascades of 11,000 feet of up & down mountain passes, with lots of stops for photographs. Got 50.8 mpg!

Oh, yeah. Use 100% gasoline, not the 10% ethanol blend. With accurate years of 10% ethanol use & a half-year of 100% ethanol free gasoline, switching to the 100% gasoline caused our 3 cars' mpg to increase 8%, 7-8% & 6%. All engines run smoother, quieter, & less downshifting is necessary to ascend hills.

Go to pure-gas.org to find the 10 out of every 350 stations in the U.S. & Canada that still sell 100% gasoline. Large regions & entire states don't sell 100% pure gasoline. pure-gas.org will help you find 100% gasoline if it is possible in your area. Try airports, marinas & farm co-ops to see if they will sell 100% pure gasoline to you.
