  • Yellow Columbus Festiva sold QUICKLY!

I just checked craigslist Columbus. A "bright small yellow banana" 1990 "Fesita" was advertised on May 3 and was GONE on May 4th!

"Not beat and banged up" with 127K miles. Automatic.

I never had a chance. No idea what it went for.

    Damn.

Not that I would have bought it, mind you.

Hi Dave! Congratulations on your new car!

If you need any help getting to Ohiostiva, just lemme know.

I wouldn't mind seeing your yellow banana. I have shop manuals if you need to look at one. Gotta get me a '90 model year manual just for the hell of it.

Thanks! I'll probably be up for the morning (Ohio) half of Ohiostiva. And I may take you up on the manual thing eventually, although (knock on wood) there do not seem to be any major mechanical problems. It needs outer CV boots, steering rack boots, and new tires. I'm waiting for it to cool off so I can replace the thermostat and the fan switch - other than those things it seem to be fine :-).

It's coming along... Made it to & from Ohiostiva with no problems other than the unbalanced/bent wheel thing. Last night I got some new speakers for the front (yeah!!!). Today I replaced the steering rack boots (easy job) and the one bad outer CV joint boot (next time I'm getting a rebuilt shaft!). Tomorrow I'm getting another set of stock steel wheels from Karl; I'll pick the best 4 and go tire shopping. With good wheels, new tires, and an alignment job I think the critical mechanical stuff will be all done. Next step is the little bit of body work it needs. I REALLY like this car :-).

                  Dave G,

Good to hear you mad it home.
New speakers will make a huge difference on those long drives to Festiva meets. Let me know if you need the wiring diagram to wire the speakers. Should be in the Ford repair manual or one of it supplements.
See if the people mounting and balancing your tires will check the rims out on the spin balancer before they mount the tires. That way you get the best wheel tire combo!
Where'd you get your steering rack boots?

                      Likewise :-)

I should have copied it when you showed it to me, but I think I got it right. The new ones sound good anyway.

OK, got new tires & alignment yesterday; it's like a completely different car! Smooth & quiet :-). Since I was using new (old) wheels I was able to do a good job of cleaning and painting them too. Polished up the chrome trim rings and chrome dust caps, and the whole thing looks pretty good!

On to the body work. Just got a pint of paint mixed up at NAPA...
