A guy that my brother works with has a "greasel". Like you said, with fuel prices where they are, this would have a relatively short payback period.

what kind of car did he convert? i knew a guy that had an older toyota 4x4 van like i have but traded it for a vw diesel van and made it a greasel. festy's do so well on gas larger cars would be more practical to convert i suppose. its a neat alternative, i applaud anyone that can find a way to thumb their nose at the oil companies.

if its bio-diesel made from used vegetable oil then you dont need to convert a car there is a machine that does all the work for you all you need to do is get the vegie oil and racing methanol and lye http://freedomfuelamerica.com/ is where you can get info on it

I'm not sure what kind of vehicle he converted. Flowmaster, I'm not sure if you quite understand the logic of the greasel. The conversion is fairly easy. You add an extra fuel tank, and some other small items like filters, lines, etc.(as you can see I'm not all that familiar with it either). The extra tank is for the restaurant grease. You still need to start the vehicle with diesel fuel until it is up to normal operating temperature, then you switch it over to the grease which is free. The guy my brother works with has a half dozen or so "suppliers" of used restaurant grease, which is plenty to keep him fully supplied.

I watched the show called Haulin' (I think) it's a truck show on cable. The guy built a grease bio diesel converter from a kit in his garage.. showed how he turned old grease into biodiesel. After he was done making it, he went outside and poured 5gals into his nice chipped turbo diesel Ram truck.
He drove it for a while came back and started doing burnouts.. He said he didn't lose any power, and his exhaust smells like fries..
