  • So I had my dad take my car...

    Quick background story:

When I bought the festiva a few weeks ago, the exhaust system was pretty much a fancy straightpipe with a muffler at the end of it. It had about a quarter inch of clearance from the ground, looked hideous, and sounded awful. My dad offered to car the car to Milwaukee (where he works) because he knew a guy that could put a new system on it for cheap.

My dad ends up going to his place, and the place wants $800, because they wanted to redo everything. So naturally my dad thought no way in hell, and found a place full of mexican's that I guess did it for super cheap (he won't tell me, he says it's on him). Anyways, he made a stop at a local O'reilly's in Milwaukee and upon arrival, it seemed as though a person was laughing at the Festiva (not the first time for me, I'm sure everybody here knows what I'm talking about). So, my dad walks in to get whatever, and the man approaches him and continually begs my dad to not sell the car and to keep it forever. He says they are awesome cars one of the best he ever owned. My dad was worried that the dude would just whip it out and start wackin' it on my car LOL. Pretty awesome I thought. Not only that but I thought that this cool story would be fun to type up when I should be doing homework...

On the other side - the Festiva is super quiet now, it's actually super "comfortable". Personally, I'm not a fan of the super loud 4 banger exhausts.

Everywhere I go people are always constantly whackin' it around my car. I hate it when that happens.

I get the same thing. I love people that demean my car.

I'm the one averaging 45+mpg. I'm the one NOT visiting repair shops like so many vehicles decades younger than my car. I'm the one that takes 50+mpg long trips, filling my life with the greatness of the Pacific Northwest & U.S. travels in general.

I love it when people demean Festiva, because both Festiva & I know the truth.

it's just a motivational trick you'll learn to use later when you have kids of your own who are always trying to quit things prematurely.

See, if you even thought about the possibility of that being true, then you can see where it would work on you...right?

I meant that he really liked it lol. I forgot to mention he wasn't really laughing, he was like oh my god. It was more if a admiration thing. That's why he begged my dad to never get rid of it. I wasn't being sarcastic.

I know what you meant. Like everybody else on this forum already knows, once you get a handle on these cars, you can really get to a point of true appreciation that's difficult to explain to the unaware.

I know - its especially embarrassing, the looks you get from the staff at the car wash with all that "mayo" on the car when you pull in.
