  • Metal piece under the lights.

While I was cleaning my Festiva this weekend I tried to figure out what that metal piece under the light was for. I was thinking putting some LEDs there for day time running lights but I had no clue why that piece was there other than to fill the gap between the lights and the bumper. I was going to take that piece off but I would have had to remove the bumper and I didn't have time this weekend.

So is that metal piece important or can I remove it and put something else there instead?

I was thinking of one day putting in LEDs too, but I'd use the metal trim piece as a base to mount them.

The filler piece is a very important structural piece, without it the front end will fall off!!!

Yes that was sarcasm  the LED idea sounds pretty cool

I think they have an aero factor, but maybe it's an error factor.

What about replicating the filler from clear plexiglass and illuminate it from behind. Something like "edge lighting". Maybe tie it in to the turn signal.
