    Different internally, bore, pistons, etc.
Just went out and looked at my Aspire disty. It looks like the R5, i.e. 120 degree spread for the mounting bolts. So apparently when the gen2 323 came out in 1990, they changed the disty, and used that design for the Aspires later on.

So are you saying that Aspire B3 swap over to pre-OBDII (ie into a Festy) cars is going to be problematic? I have a 97 Aspire engine but have never looked at the dizzie end of things. Also haven't installed it (the motor) either.

But back to the distys. MAybe the gen1 B6 head used the R4 Festy disty, but the gen2 head was different and used a different one, the R5.
FYI, that's an enduring myth. Google it.

        Back on topic.
Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.

I've heard people say that they only use one bolt to hold the disty in place, so there may well be no problem. Both bolt-style distys will fit; it's just that the newer ones don't line up properly to use both bolts. You could use the gen2 323 B6 disty, I would think, if you just want to use both bolts.

When I went out to look at my Aspire disty, I just eyeballed it. It did look like the 120 degree angle on the R5 (323) disty.
