  • Festiva smell?

So I bought my Festiva from an old guy that smoked a lot. Luckily the inside is about 90% vinyl so it was pretty easy to clean but still has a strange smell to it.
My wife owned a used Festiva back in the 90's when she was in college and she told me that her's had that same smell, she called it "the Festiva smell"
Anyone else notice this or is maybe its just they were both previously owned by heavy smoker's?

Green Car smells like ATF when you get in it after its been sitting in the sun. I'm guessing someone spilled in the back at some point or something. Some of mine in the past have had various smells, but nothing I can just say is a Festiva smell.
    No festiva for me ATM...

Our aspire has a certain smell. Always has, always will. And I know that festiva smell as well. It's comforting, like the smell of my own bed... maybe I'm just odd .

As cars get older, they do develop certain smells as the interior panels break down. I've noticed the festiva smell in my cars as well as the cars at the salvage yard. My VW's all have a VW smell, my BMW s have a Beemer smell. I find these smells comforting too.

Mine had a really bad mouse infestation from the previous owner leaving in a field for 2 years. After cleaning and replacing almost all fabric, it still lingers a little whiff on hot summer days, but generally it smells just like my first one.
Im not driving a Festiva because I'm poor. I drive a Festiva because i want to!

                  It's more than a smell, it's a stank.

In all the Festivas that my family and I have owned, it's lingered in all 4 Festivas and link5186's aforementioned Aspire; all but 2 of the Festivas were purchased brand new by my parents.

Just wouldn't be right without it.

Unbolt and remove the seats. Buy some hog rings and a set of hog ring pliers. Cut the existing hog rings off your seats, peel off the covers and double wash them. I guaranty you the water will be as black as coal, the first time. Reinstall the covers. Remove the carpet. Soap it, scrub it, hose it down on the driveway. Let it dry, then put it back in. The smell should be gone.

Mine smells like a midsummer's night, laying in the field starring that the stars glow through the orange sky of the setting sun. Okay, not really; it smells like a lot of the older cars from the same time. It must have to do with the materials and how they break down.

Must be the breakdown of the seat and carpet fiber's.
I have a 68 Charger that I replaced the interior in and doesn't have that smell.

Frabreeze wouldnt touch the uric acid stench in my car. It would gag a maggot !! After complete interior removeable and many washes later the odor is gone.

I used the product below numerous times before it was bearable.
