I hope Mr.Leno isn't one of those Shogun enthusiast's that shield themselves from the fact that they still own a Festiva.

5 Festivas:
1992 L - Daily Driver
1993 GL-Off-Road Buggy Subaru EJ20DET
1988 L - Big Block Ford Pro-Street
1992 L - Corvette LS7 drivetrain
1991 L - Parts Car
I would love to seee the underside of a real production SHOgun!
I have a few pics of the underside of car #001. Talk about "parts bin" engineering !! The front was half Festiva, half Taurus with a little of porshe 911 and a extra roll bar from who knows were !
The back is SHO subframe, solid bushing everywere and modified roll bar. Nothing realy exotic anywere. They did cut off the top of the struts to add the Porshe coil overs and cartridge inserts but that about it.
I have called Bill and Marty at Speedway for 4 years know asking about the molds, I even offered to buy them site unseen. No go. After a few false leads from Bill him self they dumped the Shogun project rebirth and want to put the molds in a museum.
If Jay could do anything I would love to get him to call Bill and try to talk him into running a half dozen sets. Im not rich but I would pay some hard cash to finish my SHOgun with a set of "factory" fenders.
I was looking of the list of jays cars, it list his Festiva a Renault with a sho engine !!

No spitters were I work, you swallow it all. The Company feels if you already have it in your mouth why waste it.
Yep, speedway motors (http://www.speedwaymotors.com) has the molds and jig for the upper part of the rear subframe were the shocks mounted. They are second owner of the molds and jig after "Special Editions"dropped off the planet and sold the stuff to a private party.
Last time I talked to Bill he said there was more than 6 ( plus the prototype) made. I think he was refering to some fender set that were sold off after the original project failed. He also hinted they had a shogun but did not say if it was an original or peiced together car.
I called Speedway yesterday just to see if there was any change in their plans, Martys on vacation and Bill wasnt in.
I was also trying to find out if SHOGUN ( as in ford festivas) is copyrighted, in case some wanted to build them and sell them if they could call them SHOGUNS.

I would have never thought that the guys at speedway would have this stuff.. I work in the industry myself (www.RadirWheels.com) and deal with speedway alot.. Knowing that they are holding onto festiva stuff is pretty amusing.
I just got off the phone with Helga ,I think that is his wife ,because she made a comment to me that she had not been out to his garage for 15 years ? She says she is not into the car thing .
I talked to her 15 min . real nice ,Jays assistant.
So she gave me his personal e-mail and promised me that he would read my whole story to him ,and what my request was .
She even gave me the direct fax if I didn't want to e-mail.
She said she is mainly in charge of production contracts, legal stuff,so she really does not like to be middle man in car questions.
So I sent it to him ,Invited him to Clarkston,MI. FF06' while I was at it ,like that will happen .
So I said I would take his car for him.
Fingers crossed.
