Whoa. Reminds me of this old picture.

Sort of. I wouldn't do it for the reason they did.

Karl (safety guy) I believe has a festiva with all mix-matched panels

              1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
              1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

I should have marketed mine as a "harliquin" before I painted it.

Would make the Festiva look even more like a Clown Car!

                    That's the point!

Aquamutt (Karl's car) definitely fits the bill in spirit, but needs more colors to qualify. The mismatched taillights are a nice touch though and would be appreciated in such a scheme.

Alas, I do not quite have the "Harlequin look." That would involve a different color panel for a total of:

                      1. L fender
                      2. R fender
                      3. hood
                      4. rooftop
                      5. L door
                      6. R door
                      7. L rear quarter
                      8. R rear quarter
                      9. hatch

You could also add two more colors for each bumper. Or repeat one or two colors as long as they aren't next to each other.

                      My Mutt isn't that close:

But I do have an older blue door, a newer blue hatch, "surf blue" bulk of the car and a primer painted greenish hood.

There was a 'gypsy Festiva' for sale on CL a few months back. It was atleast 6 or 7 different colors.

Also said it was towed behind a gypsy motorhome most of its life.

Sadly, they didn't show the motorhome.
White '92 GL 5-speed BP, G series, Aspire/Rio swapped, "Nancy"
White '89 LX 5-speed, Aspire swapped, Weber carb
                        1988 LX 5-speed
                        1993 L 5-speed B8, E series, Aspire/Rio swapped

                        Gone:

The original Harliquin didn't have a different color on every panel. They did repeat some colors as there were only 4 colors used. They just made sure not to put the same color side by side.

You're Festiva has a good start! Just need a couple more colors in there!
