  • new to this forum!

hey everybody! my name is Austin. i live in texas and ill be picking up my 91 festiva tonite. it has a warped head so i will be rebuilding the motor and doing lots of port and polishing on it and building it for nitrous. im a moderator on ecotecforum.com and im a very experienced mechanic. so im sure if i can build an ecotec, then this should be a cakewalk. lol. my dd right now is a fully built and supercharged cavalier but its killin me on gas. looking forward to this new project!

Hello and welcome to our house. yes if you can spin a wrench you will find it easy to rebuild a B3. What shot of juice are you going to use.
An idea can turn to dust or magic, depending on the talent that rubs against it.

going to start with a 75 wet shot and go from there. going to see about cryo-treating the pistons and rods and maybe double stacking the headgasket to lower compression. but we will see.

im still learning... what would this benefit?

If you know your way around a car, why not toss in a BP (1.8 DOHC from the escort GT) instead of rebuilding the tiny B3? then add nitrous

A BP swap is rediculously easy on an EFI festiva and would probably be just as powerful as a B3/75 shot

either way good luck with the project and welcome to the site

          1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

lol. i might just do a bp swap then. what car is that out of? btw i picked up the car. i gutted about 200lbs out of it and slammed it on the ground. it looks wicked and is a blast to drive. cyl #1 is fouling out. it looks like it needs a new valve cover gasket and a tune up and it might be drivable. i fear that it may have a bad ring though since im getting a lot of oil on the plug. but even on 3 cylinders its runnin strong. ill post pics later.

lower compression is safer for nitrous. well any form of boost really. less chance of grenading the motor.

A 75 shot on a 63hp engine is an interesting venture. Welcome to the club man! These little cars are really quite amazing performers. Check out the garage forum and the racing forum for weeks worth of great reading and information. These cars are easily capable of 13 second quarter miles while still getting over 30mpg!
Looking forward to hearing about and seeing more of your build.
