What's the deal with these? It seems to be a sore subject with a lot of people, but why are some worth 88$ and some are only worth 6$? I know there are metals in them worth a lot of $, but how can I tell if mine is worth cutting off to scrap out?....off a parts car, not one that is still driveable.

factory cats have alot of the high dollar metals in them where aftermarket units have very little (bare minimum) of those metals. you can usually tell factory from aftermarket by their size and placement/mounting on the car.

Hmm.. I don't understand it, the one from my 94 aspire was worth 88$, this other one off the 94 parts car looks identical in every way, except a cat back exhaust/bigger/new pipe was welded to the end of it, and the woman said its only worth 6$.

Even looking inside the honeycomb stuff looks the same.

Yea I have to..it doesn't make any sense to me. The first one was taken in 3 days ago by a friend of mine, I didn't know if they would be worth anything or not, maybe she liked him more than me.

I know our local scrappers pay a straight price on them. $20 each, but this place is more 3rd world than most, so everything sucks if you're the little guy.

My scrap yard has a rod they stick in, and pull back. They look at it, and give you a price, take it or leave it. WTH that stick does is beyond me.....

Took another one in the other week, I ended up helping move someone else's scrap to get the line moving and somehow that raised the value of this one to 98$?! Something is definately goofy, I think its her.
