  • Fifty Dollar Festiva Fun (How-to Index)

So let's compile a nice fun list of economical Festiva repairs, modifications, and upgrades. I realize we have how-to sections, but how about a budget post with a big pile of them? Economic times are tough, but there are plenty of things that can be done to these cars on the cheap. I challenge everyone viewing and posting to submit at least one to the list, whether original or dug up in the search. Let's find out just how many there are. Here are the rules:

    1) $50 Spending Limit (be reasonable)
    2) Must have a written how-to preferably with pictures or detail
    3) Reasonable in terms of labour/tools

I will harass Damkid excessively and intentionally to keep the original post updated and or make a finished index once we have a dozen or two. I plan to make a few more in the next few days to see if that helps stimulate some interest at all. I'll start us off with a few of mine and a handful of others:

Great thread idea! Swapping the rear seat cushion from an aspire is cheap, easy and comfort-enhancing.

Haven't there been a couple of 50 dollar turbo installs? Also, since Aaron is talking 50 Canadian dollars, doesn't that mean 150 usd, soon to be like 500 usd? Keep printing that money and giving it to people without a trade or skill, yay! Sorry, that was inappropriate.
Great thread Aaron, you are the master of the search button, and a lot of us thank you for using your superhuman searching skill to make life easier for everyone.

Driving for me is neither a right nor a privilege. Driving is my passion, as it was for the people who invented the automobile, the people who paved the first roads and the people who continue to improve the automobile. Please respect this passion.

Right now US dollar is worth 1.0003 Canadian dollars. Pretty much 6's.

I shouldn't be laughing as hard as I am: I work at the corporate office of a bank (I'm Canadian as well) and we joke about it regularly. ahahahaha

Not quite how it is, but that's ok. It's a little more sad that a country with the wealth, population and resources of the US has fallen so much that what Canada has gained is enough to par up.

..... let's not forget the vastly abundant natural resources of our southern neighbor mexico. We're all slaves to the central banks.

Not sure about a write up, but the intermittent wiper mod is my personal favourite. Especially in the rainy climate I live in.

I think my favorite $50 or less mods have been giving my car what it should have had when I got it!

                              - Passenger's side mirror : $10 from a member on here
                              - Carpet that covers the back seat (and that terrible metal frame with speed holes in it) $.50
-Carpet that covers the cargo area (Mine was torn out with force) $2.75
-Stereo: $10 for a Sony X-plode 222W 2-channel amp at the swapmeet. 2X12" subs in a bandpass box that I got at a yard sale, had to replace on of the subs with an old one I already had $20. Running them bridged, and out of phase. My little car bump BUMPS for less than $50 total!
