Ive started making a spoiler using the hard white packing foam. Ive carved to size and shape I want. I left a drilling space to attach. Now my plan to go over it with fiberglass sand it down and paint it. Thoughts opinions? Anyone try it?

be careful with the fg resin. The solvent in it will attack most styrofoams. You may need to put down a boundary layer of something non-reactive.Jim DeAngelis

Don't forget to inlay blocks into the foam before you glass it, otherwise it will rip right off!!! Use a kiln dried wood, cut out mounting areas in the foam and glue the blocks in place, then glass over. They are correct about getting the correct resign so the foam does not degrade, you should be able to get the right stuff from a boat shop. My dad has some that he has used on his sailboat, nasty stuff!!!
I would shy away from the cling wrap, if you get any water in there the winter will freeze and crack it!Last edited by Huli; 11-01-2012, 02:38 PM.HULi ---------------------------------------------------------------------------> Any-where, any-way, any-time.
