Well .. I have no plans to sell my Festiva , BUT.., with a leaky gas tank now , I can see more of the road while sitting in the car now , tired of the lack of heat from the windy situation in the car , I most likely will be picking up this Passion in the Morning 11/17/12.

I still drive my car every day , but only fill 1/2 way , I never put all the trim back in from trying to locate the leak ..Stupid trim !!!

I am still kicking myself for selling the silver rust free 63,000 mile car , I should have never did that , It would be saving me 12K right now ..LOL.. But I knew mine was dependable and would trust it ANYWHERE !!!!!!!
That is why I kept the white one !

I actually like the Smart car. Kinda cool looking! Would love to get one and put some cool looking wheels and big, wide tires on it. That is, "big" and "wide" for a Smart, ha!, ha!....

There comes a time in everyone's life to move on; but I'm not so sure a Smart is going to be a good fit for you. Those things are electronic nightmares and, if you have no warranty, the bill for the first set of repairs at the Mercedes dealer will make you wish there still was a Festy in the driveway. An automotive courier colleague of mine bought one new (a diesel) 4 years ago figuring the savings in fuel would easily offset the cost of financing and running a 'bargain basement' used Cavalier. His thinking was perfectly sound but almost once a week during the first year that Smart was down for warranty repairs. He counted up all his lost time and wages and jettisoned that car just before the warranty ran out and happily went back to driving old Chevy Cavaliers. Now it may be the newer Smart and/or the gas engine versions are more reliable but...

I love the look and idea of a smart car. I have an extra gas tank or 3 if you need one.....dirt cheap, say, shipping + good karma?

A tank would be awesome ^^ , because I am not getting rid of my Festiva , This may actually give me time to do some serious mods .. I still have my turbo and mani downstairs .
The Smart has always caught my eye , and I had never seen a white one , until now , and this one has everything I would ever want .

Sure, there's a use for a fuel tank in the trailer. You can rig up a retractable fuel line from the trailer to the towing vehicle and self-refuel after running the front dry for when you're doing something like driving the Alcan Highway through the Yukon in winter when you need extended range. At least you could keep a couple of gallons of "reserve" fuel in the trailer.

You could also keep emergency water in it for those long desert runs.

I plan to convert my front-end-damaged 93L to a trailer sometime and keep the tank in place.

Not in this tank! Those are good ideas though! I can see why you could use it where you are.

Full disclosure, this tank sat at an undisclosed location for an unknown number of years. It seems that the clutch was what took it off the road, as the trans is running Baby Car now, and the engine is running Redrum. So, it seems likely that the tank is in the same condition as the other cars from the same place. A trick that Kartracer taught me seems to clean them well enough. Empty the tank, pour in some kerosene, and a ton of small bolts and washers. Then, for the next week, every time you walk past it, give her a shake. Rinse, and repeat, then, rinse, and scour every thing you can reach. Rinse and repeat as needed.

Just PM me sometime, and we can hammer out details. Perhaps it can make a trip to you via FPS, Festiva Postal Service.
