  • Bike Hitch Racks

Soon I hope to install my ball hitch on Luxstiva. However, I want a ball hitch bike rack that tilts down so I can open my hatch, and I can't find one.

I'm thinking I may have to modify my hitch--take off the ball and bolt or weld on an adaptor for whatever tilting hitch rack I eventually get.

Has anyone ever done this? Any more ideas?

I'm sick of "trunk mount" racks. I want something more deluxe for my Luxury Festiva!

    Already checked there, Matt!

Also checked bikenashbar. The ball hitch racks don't tilt.

I may go with the "Roundabout," which sticks way back out, but would probably clear the hatch.

If you can find one a roof rack is the way to go. I use mine all the time. They are very versatile. I've used it to move before and often carry my 20' extension ladder on it.

I've made myself a really nice "trunk mount" rack. Pictures at eleven :-)

Here - pics of the rack & the whole car. It's probably never going to look better than this :-).

                Didja get my response?

Get dimensions 1, 2 & 3 for your bike per this picture: http://www.ws-design.com/junk/venturered-ral06-f.jpeg

Hop in your car. Stop at a carry out and get some cold beer, then swing by Lowes and get 2 (10') pieces of 1/2" emt (electrical conduit). Then come on over and we'll make one up for you. Don't forget the beer part! :-)

It's a Thule rack. I got it about 12 years ago when I had my 1st festiva.
