  • Partnumber Listing Thread?

    just like the F.I.T database, couldn't we create a database or a simple list of part and their partnumbers?
    JAMAICA TO THE WORLD
    I don't complain, i just come plain.

          I've phoned Ford customer relations in Detroit to beg for parts diagrams with their corresponding part numbers. No luck. Where are the Russians when you need them? They copy and post everything. Too bad Ford never sold Festivas in the Soviet Union, otherwise we would have that list. I found a Mazda BP manual the other day, unfortunately it was in Russian. Sorry guys.

          Even just a copy of all the diagrams would be great. The base numbers are all listed on them. There are only about four or five prefixes and probably just an A, B or C engineering change level suffix.
          E7 = 87
          E8 = 88
          E9 = 89
          F0 = 90
          F1 = 91

            Ford customer relations in Detroit is not the right division to call. Customer Relations is all about your 2008 - 2013 car/truck still in warranty and keeping you happy with it.
            Try calling FCSD (Ford Customer Service Division). They are the ones that make sure the dealers can "Fix it Right the First Time". You'll need to talk to a veteran Ford guy who even remembers Festiva. Most of those guys left during Fords big "downsize" 2002 - 2007 just before the financial collapse. Remember Ford didn't take a bail out they were ready. There are still people there, but the docs may be long gone.
            It may also be to your advantage to contact your local Ford Service Training Center and ask the instructors about parts manuals. They are the ones that trained all the technicians on the Festy. Those guys love to talk shop. Most training centers have already purged 20 year old docs, but it can't hurt to ask.
            Maybe you know of an "older" dealership that sold Festivas new. If so there is a remote chance they have a stock plie of manuals (microfiche) somewhere in the attic. Dealers are not required to purge docs like the factory guys are. I hesitate to have you talk to the older techs in the shop, they don't have time for it.
            Your local community college may have had an ASSET program going in the early '90s. there is a chance they still have parts manuals in the Automotive Department.
            Manuafacturers are only required to support a vehicle for 10 years.
            Helm Publishing in MI published the material, but I'd guess they're all gone now.
            AllData, Haynes, Clymers are of lesser quality and detail, and don't typically have Parts Listings.
            I think we are on our own here.

              Since I have Festies in 3 locations and plan to drive them for many more years including doing a lot of rebuilding work, I'd like to see such info -- along with "good substitution" info where appropriate.

              When I had my 1964 Amphicar, I had a complete looseleaf parts manual from the former dealer along with sourcing info. The original parts had come from a hodge-podge of vehicle types (only 3800 Amphis were produced), so it was particularly difficult to find original parts.

                  Ford protects their tier one supplier list. Unless someone at Ford sends out a supplier email without using bcc (blind carbon copy). I have made sure I have archived those contact lists.

                    I got bit by Rock Auto wrong parts. A Festy parts list would have prevented that. Here is the story ...
                    They have the same part listed under 2 different part numbers and different names in two different catagories.
                    AUTO EXTRA / CHASSIS RITE Part # AXK9737 {RK9737} is listed as a Suspension : Control Arm Bushing.

                    Would you not think a control arm bushing fits on the control arm? These don’t. They are for the stabilizer bar.

                    I also bought from you ACDELCO Part # 45G0107 {88912257} Suspension : Stabilizer Bar Link.
                    Both parts serve the same function.

                    I still need control arm bushings that actually fit the control arm and do not mount on the stabilizer bar.
                    They apparently don’t have any Control Arm Bushings to sell, only sway bar bushings. The catalog needs repair.

                      I think this may help with bushings.

                      Sway bar ends - Part number Moog K9737. $12.00 per side at O'Reilly
                      Lower control arms - Energy suspension 9.13103R
                      Steering ends - Energy suspensinon 9.5157R

                        I paid less than $10 both sides sway bar @ RockAuto check it out. I don't like paying $20 for an entire control arm when what I really want is a $6 bushing for the lowercontrol arm where it attaches to the frame. Same with the tie rod ends $10 each ... all I want is the $3 cup.

                          We would need to set up a read only thread that would only be posted by mods. that way we could have just part numbers/names/supplier without all the cheerful banter. If we make it searchable then you could enter a part name ... "FPR" and pop up the parts thread listed by YM and vehicle and notes for work arounds.
                          Can we even put up a searchable Excel spread sheet?
