  • Please Help :) Newbie Owner

I finally got the Festiva up and running and have been driving it this whole week! I just did my first mod, a Escort GT seat swap. I was wondering of there is any more bolt on upgrades that I can hit the junkyard with. There is minimal festivas and aspires at my local yard but tons of Hondas, Escorts, and Kia Rios.
Also are Mazda 323 same thing as a Protege?

    Re: Please Help Newbie Owner

Get an early B6 engine. You can swap it in an afternoon, and it gains 20 something bolt-on horsepower. 1987-89 323.

Lol! Okay I didn't mean that kind of bolt on. I want my stock engine. My other car is a mustang GT and I'm using the savings on this engines gas mileage to pay off that car faster. Is a 323 a protege? I'm in the states and that 323 seems to be rare here. My friend from the Philippines said it was but I wanted a second opinion. I would get a B6 if my engine died though. I'm definitely keeping my Festiva

Right now I'm looking at the Escort dome light and center console swap. I'm looking for some little things like this.

My escort console was one of the best things I think I have done to my car so far. It looks much nicer, and actually has a purpose! I explained briefly what I did in my Youtube videos. The best part is, it takes less than an hour if you don't do anything extra like painting, etc.

What model is your festiva? L/lx/gl?
If its an l model u can do a tilt column, tach cluster.

U can also do a short shifter for a honda. Just gotta cut half a coil off the spring and add washers to the linkage.

I realize this is not a jy item but its $8 and will make a huge difference.

Mines a 1991 L 5 speed. I've been looking at that Honda short shifter! Escorts at my Junk yard are in plenty of stock.. My friend and I are looking for a hatch spoiler though if you guys know where I can get a budget friendly one. Haha

                    Try this list!

Its on here somewhere, I looked for half an hour and couldnt find it on here, but I have it saved as a file on my computer.

Some things are REALLY hard to find on here. (and ya wonder why some people dont use the search function!)

A list of all that I know to fit a Festy

                    FESTIVA CROSS REFERENCE LIST

                    Engines

                    Protégé LX = BP
                    Protégé DX = B8

                    PARTS
                    -91-96 escort shift knob

                    - 91-96 escort center console with shift boot and cupholders (required some heavy cutting of the console)

-91-96 escort hatch and wagon rear cargo light

                    - 94 626 steering wheel (horn contact plate doesn't line up though so you have to custom wire a switch for the horn)

-90-94 protege 140MPH speedo (requires a little modding on the orange clusters, bolts right in on the white clusters, at least on the non-tach clusters... either way though you either need a custom faceplate for it or you can just pull out the festiva faceplate and bolt the protege one in its place but that will leave some gaps which can look a little tacky IMO)

                    - early 626 power mirror switch (don't remember exact years but its the more squared off body style)

                    - early 626 intermittent wiper switch (again, don't remember the years, but its also from the squared off body style)

                    - 91-96 escort power mirrors (required removing about 1/2" of material from the bottom of the mounting face, but the harness is plug and play if your festy is wired for power mirrors)

                    - Escort/tracer door handles 80’s-90’s probably 2000’s up

-Early 90's Toyota Camry Clear Turn Lens

                    -83-93 Mazda B2200 Turn Signals

                    -98-01 ACURA INTEGRA SHORT SHIFTER

                    -pre-1990 tracer door handles

-91-96 escort power mirrors (Minor mods)

-90-94 Protege LX power mirrors (minor mods)

Also does anyone know if I can swap the rear seats with something? Mine are rusted, dry, and disgusting overall. I know the aspire cushions swap, what about the back rest though?
