  • Quick question about Aspires.

Im considering going to look at an Aspire. One big concern with me is whether the rear seat folds foreword. I play drums, and guitar, and tend to move a lot of gear around. With a folding rear seat, I may be able to do so, but otherwise Ill be in for some problems.

So... question of the evening. Does the rear seat on Aspire's fold foreword?

Also, anything I specific I should check for when looking at it? Its a 97, with 82k on the clock. It looks to be in good shape, and seems like it would be a nice car for a broke student. Haha.

    Thanks
    ACG

Yes seats fold down. And 97 is the newest model year which is great it will probably have the newest body updates. And 82k is great for mileage. both my aspires were bought at 89k If taken car of it will last you past 300,000miles. My first one was sold at 280k still running great and the second one I'm still driving and its in good to go for years. Just look at all the basics.

rmoltis, I think he's curious to know if it folds down...and then also up and forward like the ones on a Festiva would...do the Aspires do that too?

          *cough*

          Uhm, yes they do..

The seat folds forward then up/forward again behind the front seats, I just did it today in mine vacuuming it out. That's how you get to the fuel pump too.

This is the hinge to get it to flip forward twice, I've never uploaded a pic here so I'm just trying to figure it out

Depends on which model and year you get. The 2 door are simliar to the Festiva's. The 4 door maybe just the 97 is similar to modern cars. You can pull the bottom seat cushions up and push them flat up against the front seats. Then the back lays down flat. I like that arrangement better than the other.

Roommate's old 94/95 4 door folded forward like a festiva. Tons of space back there, he camped in it a couple of times LOL.
                  No festiva for me ATM...

Last time I vacuumed mine out I found enough fries to make a "Large Fryl" & about 20 M&M's for desert. I swear these things eat McDonald's Fries faster than I do.

ok.. as none of my 2 door aspires have rear seats attached, i had to rely on Caetys '96 4 door for my info (you cant flip hers forward, at least i've never been able to).

Maybe it changed after the '95 model year? I've never owned an Aspire, just worked on my roommate's 94 or 95 (can't remember) a lot, but in the junkyards over the years I've noticed a lot of differences between the 94/95 and 96/97s, a lot more than just the switch to ODBII.
                            No festiva for me ATM...

Mine is a 96 and it folds forward and down if I pull the seat belts through the back of the seat and its obdII. My last one was a 95-4 door and I wasn't sure if it folded down or not. Maybe it has to do with 4dr or 2dr difference. I know the 4 door is a little bit longer maybe it didn't need it?
